Significant rainfall combined with melting snow is expected. The frozen ground has a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall. Locations: parts of central, northeastern, and eastern Newfoundland. Total rainfall: 20 to 30 mm, with locally higher amounts possible. Time span: today. Remarks: Localized flooding may occur in areas with poor drainage. Rainfall rates of 5 to 10 mm per hour may occur over some locations. Watch for slippery conditions where rain falls on frozen surfaces. Ensure storm drains and gutters are clear of ice and debris to reduce localized flooding. Rainfall warnings are issued when significant impacts are expected due to rainfall amounts.
