Wave height forecasts for Newfoundland issued by Environment Canada
at 6:00 a.m. NDT Thursday 18 April 2024 for today tonight and Friday.
The next scheduled forecast will be issued at 6:00 p.m. NDT.

Forecast values are combined wind wave and swell heights. Highest
waves may be more than twice forecast values. Wave heights may vary
considerably due to shoreline and depth effects.

Strait of Belle Isle - eastern half.
Outside the ice edge seas 2 to 3 metres subsiding to 1 to 2 late
overnight and to 1 or less Friday evening.

Strait of Belle Isle - western half.
Seas 1 to 2 metres subsiding to 1 or less late overnight.

Northeast Gulf.
Seas 2 to 3 metres subsiding to 1 to 2 this morning and to 1 or less
Friday afternoon.

Gulf - Port au Port.
Seas 2 to 3 metres except 1 to 2 over northwestern sections tonight
and Friday. Seas subsiding to 1 to 2 Friday afternoon and to 1 or
less Friday evening.

Southwest Coast.
Seas 1 to 2 metres building to 2 to 3 this evening then subsiding to
1 to 2 near noon Friday. Seas subsiding to 1 or less Friday evening.

South Coast.
Seas 1 to 2 metres building to 2 to 3 near noon and to 3 to 4 late
overnight. Seas subsiding to 2 to 3 near noon Friday and to 1 to 2
Friday evening.

East Coast - Cape St. Francis and south.
Seas 2 to 3 metres building to 3 to 5 near noon.

East Coast - north of Cape St. Francis.
Seas 2 to 3 metres building to 4 to 6 this morning then subsiding to
3 to 4 Friday evening.

Northeast Coast.
Seas 4 to 6 metres subsiding to 3 to 4 Friday morning and to 2 to 3
Friday evening.

Belle Isle Bank.
Seas 3 to 5 metres subsiding to 2 to 3 Friday morning.

Funk Island Bank - northwestern half.
Seas 3 to 5 metres subsiding to 2 to 3 Friday evening.

Funk Island Bank - southeastern half.
Seas 1 to 2 metres building to 2 to 3 near noon and to 3 to 5 early
this evening.

Northern Grand Banks.
Seas 2 to 3 metres except 3 to 4 over western sections tonight. Seas
building to 3 to 5 Friday morning.

Southeastern Grand Banks.
Seas 2 to 3 metres building to 3 to 5 Friday evening.

Southwestern Grand Banks.
Seas 2 to 3 metres building to 3 to 5 this evening.
