By 10:00 a.m. AST Friday trough located from East Scotian Slope
to Newfoundland.
At 8:00 p.m. AST Friday departing trough located on a line
north-south over the Grand Banks.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 9:41 AM AST 15 January 2026 A trough extending from Georges Bank to Anticosti will move eastwardacross the marine district today and is expected to stall over
eastern waters tonight and intensify. The trough will eventually move
out of the region Friday afternoon. Gale to storm force southerlies
ahead of the trough will veer to gale to storm force westerlies or
southwesterlies behind it.
Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
East Scotian Slope - southeastern half, Banquereau, and Laurentian
Fan. Gale warnings are in effect for all remaining waters.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Northumberland Strait, Gulf-Magdalen, Chaleur-Miscou, and
Anticosti.
