Issued 3:00 AM NST 16 December 2025 Today Tonight and Wednesday At 3:00 a.m. NST today low 940 mb located over northern FunkIsland Bank.
By 3:00 a.m. NST Wednesday low 941 mb located southeast of
Greenland.
At 10:00 a.m. NST Wednesday approaching trough located over Quebec
extending southwestward.
At 3:30 p.m. NST today approaching ridge located on a line
north-south over the Maritimes.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 2:54 AM NST 16 December 2025 An intense low pressure system over Northeastern Funk Island Bankwill continue tracking northeastwards today. Gale to hurricane force
westerlies to northerlies behind the low will gradually diminish
today and tonight as it departs the marine district.
A trough of low pressure will approach from the west on Wednesday.
Strong to gale force southwesterlies will spread across the marine
district ahead of the trough.
Marine interests are advised that hurricane force wind warnings are
in effect for East Coast-north of Cape St. Francis, Belle Isle Bank,
Funk Island Bank, and Northern Grand Banks. Storm warnings are in
effect for all remaining waters except Gulf waters and Southwest
Coast where gale warnings are in effect.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Strait of Belle Isle, Gulf waters, Northeast Coast, Belle
Isle Bank, and Funk Island Bank.
Marine interests are further advised that water levels are expected
to exceed the highest astronomical tide with high waves and pounding
surf, impacting some coastal areas of Northeast Coast and East Coast
this morning, most significant near high tide.
