Technical Marine Synopsis

Issued 3:00 AM NST 20 January 2026 Today Tonight and Wednesday At 3:00 a.m. NST today deepening low 1001 mb located over eastern
Quebec.
By 3:00 a.m. NST Wednesday deepening low 980 mb located north of
Belle Isle Bank.

At 3:00 a.m. NST today departing low 978 mb located over Funk
Island Bank.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 3:00 AM NST 20 January 2026 An intense low pressure system will depart east of Funk Island Bank
today. Strong to gale force westerlies to northwesterlies over
eastern waters will diminish early this morning.

Meanwhile, a second low pressure system over Eastern Quebec will
deepen as it tracks northeast across the Quebec Lower North Shore
before lying north of Belle Isle Bank by tonight. Gale to storm force
westerlies will develop over northern waters while strong to gale
force southwesterlies to northwesterlies will develop over the rest
of the district through today and tonight.

Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
Northeast Coast, belle island bank, and Funk Island Bank.
Gale warnings are in effect for all remaining waters.

Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for all waters except the Southern Grand Banks.
