Issued 3:00 AM NST 3 March 2021 Today Tonight and Thursday At 3:00 a.m. NST today low 968 mb located over Cabot Strait.By 8:00 p.m. NST tonight dissipating low 982 mb located over
western Funk Island Bank.
At 3:00 a.m. NST today trough located on a line east-west over
Belle Isle Bank.
By 3:30 p.m. NST today trough located on a line east-west over
southern Labrador Sea.
At 3:00 a.m. NST today low 974 mb located northeast of Fogo Island.
By 3:30 p.m. NST today quasi-stationary low 972 mb located over
southeastern Labrador.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 3:13 AM NST 3 March 2021 A trough of low pressure over Belle Isle Bank will move over theSouth Labrador Sea this morning. Gale force easterly winds ahead of
the trough will shift to generally strong southerlies behind it.
A deep low pressure system over the Cabot Strait will continue
eastward to lie over Western Funk Island Bank this afternoon where it
will dissipate. Gale to storm force west to southwesterly winds are
expected south of the low today.
Meanwhile, a second low pressure system currently developing just
northeast of Fogo Island will track northwestwards to lie over
Southeastern Labrador this afternoon. This low will cause the strong
to gale force west to southwesterly winds to persist over the marine
district tonight and Thursday.
Marine interests are advised that a storm warning is in effect for
Southwest Coast. Gale warnings are in effect for all remaining
waters.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for all waters except the Grand Banks.
