Issued 8:00 PM NST 26 January 2023 Tonight and Friday At 8:00 p.m. NST tonight intensifying low 978 mb located overAnticosti Island.
By 8:00 p.m. NST Friday low 970 mb located over eastern Labrador
Sea.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 8:03 PM NST 26 January 2023 A deepening low pressure system over Anticosti Island will tracknortheastward over Central Labrador then the Labrador Sea on Friday.
Gale to storm force southeasterlies ahead of the low will shift to
strong to gale force southwesterlies in its wake. Hurricane force
southerlies can be expected over Gulf - Port au Port this evening.
Marine interests are advised that a hurricane force wind warning is
in effect for Gulf - Port au Port. Storm warnings are in effect for
all remaining waters except the Grand Banks where gale warnings are
in effect.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Strait of Belle Isle, Gulf waters, Northeast Coast, and
Belle Isle Bank.
Higher than normal water levels are possible tonight along the
southwest and west coasts of Newfoundland and coastal areas of the
Strait of Belle Isle.
