Issued 10:00 AM NST 12 January 2026 Today Tonight and Tuesday At 10:00 a.m. NST today deepening low 966 mb located oversouthwestern Newfoundland.
By 3:00 a.m. NST Tuesday low 957 mb located east of Belle Isle Bank.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 9:54 AM NST 12 January 2026 A low pressure system over Southwestern Newfoundland will continue todeepen as it tracks northeastward today across Newfoundland to lie
east of Belle Isle Bank overnight tonight. Strong to gale force
northeasterlies to southerlies ahead of the low will strengthen to
storm to hurricane force southeasterlies to northeasterlies as it
continues to deepen. Winds will shift to storm to hurricane force
northwest to southwesterlies in its wake.
Marine interests are advised that hurricane force wind warnings are
in effect for Strait of Belle Isle, Southwest Coast, East Coast -
north of Cape St. Francis, Northeast Coast, Funk Island Bank, and
Northern Grand Banks. Storm warnings are in effect for all remaining
waters.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Strait of Belle Isle, Gulf waters, Northeast Coast, and
Belle Isle Bank - northwestern half.
