At 3:30 p.m. NDT today deepening low 998 mb located over southern
New Brunswick.
By 3:30 p.m. NDT Sunday low 986 mb located east of Funk Island Bank.
At 3:00 a.m. NDT today ridge located on a line northwest-southeast
over the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
By 3:00 a.m. NDT Sunday ridge located on a line northwest-southeast
over Belle Isle Bank.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 2:47 AM NDT 14 March 2026 An intense low pressure system northeast of Belle Isle Bank willcontinue to track northeastward away from the marine district today.
Gale to storm force westerly to northwesterly winds over northern
waters will diminish today as a ridge of high pressure builds in from
the southwest.
Another low pressure system will approach from the Maritimes later
today and track across Eastern Newfoundland tonight. Strong to gale
force northeast to southeasterly winds will develop north of this low
while strong to gale force southwesterlies are expected south of it.
Winds will shift to gale to storm force northwesterlies in the wake
of the low late on Sunday.
Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
Belle Isle Bank, Funk Island Bank, and Northern Grand Banks.
Gale warnings are in effect for all remaining waters except Northeast
Gulf.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Gulf waters, East Coast - north of Cape St. Francis,
Northeast Coast, Belle Isle Bank, and Funk Island Bank.
