By 3:30 p.m. NDT today departing low 957 mb located southeast
of Greenland.
At 3:30 p.m. NDT today deepening low 998 mb located over southern
New Brunswick.
By 3:30 p.m. NDT Sunday low 986 mb located east of Funk Island Bank.
At 3:00 a.m. NDT today ridge located on a line northwest-southeast
over the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
By 3:00 a.m. NDT Sunday ridge located on a line northwest-southeast
over Belle Isle Bank.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 7:57 PM NDT 13 March 2026 A deep low pressure system over Belle Isle Bank will slowly continuenortheastward to lie northeast of the marine district by early
Saturday morning. Strong to gale force north to northeasterly winds
are expected north of the track. Gale to storm force south to
southwesterly winds are expected to the south. Storm to hurricane
force winds are expected this evening over Belle Isle Bank as the low
continues to rapidly deepen. Winds will diminish over all waters to
strong to gale force west to northwesterly winds in its wake tonight
and further diminish on Saturday as a ridge of high pressure builds
in from the west.
A second low pressure system will approach from the Maritimes late in
the day on Saturday. Strong to gale force east to southeasterly winds
are expected over southern waters ahead of the low.
Marine interests are advised that a hurricane force wind warning is
in effect for Belle Isle Bank. Storm warnings are in effect for East
Coast, Northeast Coast, Funk Island Bank, and Northern Grand Banks.
Gale warnings are in effect for all remaining waters.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for all waters except South Coast and the Grand Banks.
