Technical Marine Synopsis

Issued 3:30 PM NST 16 December 2025 Tonight and Wednesday At 3:30 p.m. NST today low 943 mb located northeast of Funk
Island Bank.
By 10:00 a.m. NST Wednesday departing low 945 mb located southeast
of Greenland.

At 10:00 a.m. NST Wednesday approaching trough located over Quebec
extending southwestward.

At 3:30 p.m. NST today ridge located on a line north-south over
the Maritimes.
By 3:30 p.m. NST Wednesday ridge located on a line north-south
over the Grand Banks.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 3:14 PM NST 16 December 2025 An intense low pressure system northeast of the Funk Island Bank will
continue tracking northeastwards tonight. Gale force west to
northwesterlies behind the low will gradually diminish tonight and
Wednesday as it departs the marine district.

A trough of low pressure will approach from the west on Wednesday.
Strong to gale force southwesterlies will spread across the marine
district ahead of the trough.

Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for all
waters except the East Coast - Cape St. Francis and south, Northeast
Coast and the Southwestern Grand Banks.

Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Strait of Belle Isle, Gulf waters, Northeast Coast, Belle
Isle Bank, and Funk Island Bank.
