Marine District.
At 3:30 p.m. NST today ridge located on a line north-south over
the Maritimes.
By 3:30 p.m. NST Sunday ridge located on a line northeast-southwest
over the East Coast of Newfoundland.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 3:13 PM NST 9 December 2023 A low pressure system east of Belle Isle Bank will remain nearlystationary before finally departing to the east late Sunday. Gale to
storm force northwesterlies will gradually diminish to strong to gale
force northwesterlies tonight. Winds will further diminish through
Sunday as a ridge moves in from the west.
Marine interests are advised that a storm warning is in effect for
Funk Island Bank. Gale warnings are in effect for all remaining
waters except Strait of Belle Isle - western half, Gulf waters and
Southwest Coast.
Marine interests are also advised that large waves, pounding surf and
higher than normal water levels are possible during high tide early
this evening along portions of the East Coast and Northeast Coast
from Cape St. Francis to Cape St. John.
