north-south over the Grand Banks.
At 8:00 p.m. AST tonight approaching ridge located over New England.
At 8:00 p.m. AST tonight quasi-stationary low located over the
Great Lakes.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 3:08 PM AST 16 January 2026 A trough over Banquereau and Laurentian Fan is continuing to slowlymove east of the district this evening. As this trough progresses
gale to storm force westerlies behind it are forecast.
Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
eastern shore, Sable, East Scotian Slope - northwestern half,
Fourchu, Banquereau, and Laurentian Fan. Gale warnings are in effect
for all remaining maritime waters.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Northumberland Strait, Gulf-Magdalen, Chaleur-Miscou, and
Anticosti.
