Issued 3:00 AM NST 1 February 2023 Today Tonight and Thursday At 3:00 a.m. NST today low 1001 mb located east of the AvalonPeninsula.
By 3:30 p.m. NST today departing low 998 mb located east of Funk
Island Bank.
At 10:00 a.m. NST today intensifying low 1015 mb located south of
Nova Scotia.
By 10:00 a.m. NST Thursday low 986 mb located southeast of the
Grand Banks.
At 3:00 a.m. NST today ridge located over the Maritimes.
By 3:00 a.m. NST Thursday ridge located over Newfoundland.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 2:48 AM NST 1 February 2023 A low pressure system east of the Avalon Peninsula will continuenortheastwards today to lie east of Funk Island Bank this afternoon.
Strong to gale force southwesterlies will continue ahead of the low
then shift to strong to gale force northwesterlies in its wake.
A second low pressure system will intensify today south of Nova
Scotia and move eastwards to lie just southeast of the Grand Banks by
Thursday morning. Strong to gale force northeasterlies will develop
to the north of the low before shifting to moderate to strong north
to northwesterlies in its wake.
Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for
East Coast, Funk Island Bank, Northern Grand Banks and Southeastern
Grand Banks.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for all waters except Strait of Belle Isle and the Southern
Grand Banks.
