At 3:30 p.m. NDT today merging low 989 mb located east of the
Grand Banks.
By 3:00 a.m. NDT Monday quasi-stationary low 983 mb located east
of Funk Island Bank.
At 8:00 p.m. NDT tonight ridge located on a line north-south over
the Maritimes.
By 8:00 p.m. NDT Monday ridge located on a line north-south over
eastern Newfoundland.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 3:23 PM NDT 12 April 2026 A low pressure system just off the Avalon Peninsula and a second lowpressure system east of the Grand Banks will merge into an intense
low pressure system that will remain nearly stationary east of marine
district throughout the forecast period.
Strong to gale force northeasterlies to southwesterlies will shift to
strong to gale force westerlies to northwesterlies as the two lows
merge. Winds will diminish gradually from west to east on Monday as
the low begins to move out to sea and a ridge of high pressure builds
in from the west.
Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for all
waters.
