At 8:00 p.m. AST tonight intensifying low 1002 mb located southwest
of Georges Bank.
By 3:30 p.m. AST Monday low 976 mb located over eastern
Newfoundland.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 9:50 AM AST 18 January 2026 A developing low pressure system will approach the marine districtfrom the southwest today. The low will intensify as it tracks
northeastward to the south of Nova Scotia Monday morning to lie over
Newfoundland Monday afternoon. Winds will increase to strong to gale
force northeasterlies north of the low's track and gale to near storm
force southwesterlies south of the low's track.
Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for
Georges Bank, southwestern shore, LaHave Bank, West Scotian Slope,
eastern shore, Sable, East Scotian Slope, Fourchu, Banquereau,
Laurentian Fan and Cabot Strait.
