of Newfoundland.
At 10:00 a.m. ADT today trough from low located over the Gulf of
St. Lawrence.
By 3:00 a.m. ADT Sunday departing trough located east of the
Marine District.
At 3:00 p.m. ADT today ridge located over the Great Lakes.
By 8:00 p.m. ADT Sunday ridge located over the southwestern Marine
District.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 2:28 AM ADT 12 October 2024 A low pressure system along the Labrador coast will maintain strongto gale force westerly winds over the region tonight. An associated
trough will cross the Gulf of St. Lawrence today with winds expected
to increase to gale to near storm force in its wake.
Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for all
marine waters.
Outlook for the start-up of the Upper Bay of Fundy lobster fishery.
Saturday...Southwest 25 knots increasing to west 35 to 40 near noon
then diminishing to northwest 25 in the evening. Seas 2 to 3 metres.
Sunday...Northwest 20 knots diminishing to west 15 in the afternoon
and to westerly 10 to 15 in the evening. Seas 1 to 2 metres subsiding
to 1 metre or less in the afternoon.
Monday...Winds light becoming easterly 15 knots near noon increasing
to southeast 20 to 25 knots in the afternoon and to south 25 to 30
late in the evening. Seas near 1 metre.
Tuesday...Southwest 20 knots. Seas near 1 metre.
