Marine Weather Statement

Issued 2:35 AM AST 6 December 2021 A low pressure system over the Great Lakes will intensify as it
tracks northeastward to lie over Quebec this evening and the Labrador
Sea Tuesday afternoon. An associated cold front will move eastward
across the marine district tonight and throughout the day on Tuesday.
Gale to near storm force southerly winds ahead of the front will
shift to strong to gale force westerlies in its wake.

Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for all
waters. Freezing spray warnings are in effect for Chaleur-Miscou and
Anticosti.

In addition, a high water level warning is in effect for Chaleur -
Miscou. Very large perigean spring tides will coincide with storm
surge to produce coastal flooding levels 30 to 50 centimetres above
the high tide, near 5:30 PM ADT this afternoon. The risk is mainly
for the Western Bay of Chaleur, as well as the east side of the
Acadian Peninsula, especially near le goulet. The storm surge will
be slightly lower for the Acadian East Coast, but they will have
similar flooding levels due to some light to moderate waves
approaching from the southeast.
