Marine Weather Statement
Issued 2:31 AM ADT 18 April 2024 A deepening low pressure system east of Newfoundland will bringstrong to gale force northerly winds to eastern waters today.
Winds will diminish on Friday as the low begins tracking eastward.
Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for
Fourchu, Banquereau, Laurentian Fan and Cabot Strait.
Outlook for the start-up of the eastern shore lobster fishery.
Thursday..Winds northerly 15 to 20 knots increasing to 20 to 25 this
afternoon. Sea state 1 to 2 metres.
Friday..Winds north 20 diminishing to light near noon. Sea state 1 to
2 metres diminishing to 1 or less.
Saturday..Southerly 10 to 15. Seas 1 to 2 metres.
