Marine Weather Statement
Issued 3:50 PM AST 21 January 2026 Strong to gale force westerly winds over northeastern waters in thewake of low over the Labrador Sea will diminish this evening as a
ridge of high pressure builds in from the west.
On Thursday, a trough of low pressure will track eastward across the
southern marine district. Strong to gale force southwesterlies are
expected ahead of the trough.
Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for
eastern shore, Sable, Fourchu, Banquereau, Cabot Strait,
Gulf-Magdalen - eastern half and Anticosti - eastern half.
Marine interests are advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Fourchu, Banquereau - northern half, Cabot Strait and all
Gulf of St. Lawrence waters.
