Technical Marine Synopsis
Issued 3:00 AM AST 17 January 2021 Today Tonight and Monday At 3:00 a.m. AST today intensifying low 982 mb located overwestern Maine.
By 3:30 p.m. AST today low 976 mb located near the Gaspe Peninsula.
At 3:30 p.m. AST Monday departing low 982 mb located over western
Labrador.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 2:30 AM AST 17 January 2021 A low pressure system over Western Maine will track northeastwardtoday to lie near the Gaspé Peninsula this afternoon. The low will
then move northward to lie over Western Labrador Monday afternoon.
Gale to storm force southeasterly winds ahead of this system will
veer to strong to gale force southwesterlies as the low moves
northeastward.
Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
eastern shore, Sable, East Scotian Slope, Fourchu, Banquereau -
western half, Laurentian Fan - western half, Cabot Strait,
Northumberland Strait - eastern half and Gulf-Magdalen - eastern
half. Gale warnings are in effect for all remaining waters.
Marine interests are also advised that a high water level warning is
in effect for Gulf-Magdalen for today near high tide near noon.
In addition, higher than normal water levels are expected for
Chaleur-Miscou for early this evening.
