Issued 3:00 AM AST 18 January 2021 Today Tonight and Tuesday At 3:00 a.m. AST today low 979 mb located northwest of AnticostiIsland.
By 3:00 a.m. AST Tuesday departing low 984 mb located north of
Labrador.
At 3:30 p.m. AST today cold front located from the Gaspe Peninsula
to Maine.
By 3:30 p.m. AST Tuesday cold front located southeast of the
Marine District.
At 8:00 p.m. AST tonight intensifying low 998 mb located south of
Laurentian Fan.
By 10:00 a.m. AST Tuesday departing low 986 mb located over the
Grand Banks.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 2:27 AM AST 18 January 2021 A low pressure system northwest of Anticosti Island will movenorthward to lie over Western Labrador this afternoon. The low will
continue northward tonight. Strong to gale force west to
southwesterlies will slowly diminish today as the low pulls away.
A cold front will move southeastward across the district from the
northwest tonight and Tuesday. Winds will veer to strong
northwesterlies behind the cold front. Colder air in the wake of the
cold front will give freezing spray to the Gulf of St. Lawrence
waters on Tuesday.
Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for
Georges Bank, West Scotian Slope, southwestern shore, LaHave Bank,
eastern shore, Sable, East Scotian Slope, Fourchu, Banquereau -
northwestern half, Cabot Strait, Gulf Magdalen, and Anticosti.
Freezing spray warnings are in effect for the waters of the Gulf of
St. Lawrence.
