Issued 3:30 PM NST 2 March 2021 Tonight and Wednesday At 3:30 p.m. NST today low 965 mb located near Anticosti Island.By 3:30 p.m. NST Wednesday dissipating low 980 mb located over
western Funk Island Bank.
At 3:30 p.m. NST today trough located on a line northwest-southeast
over northeastern Newfoundland.
By 3:30 p.m. NST Thursday departing trough located on a line
east-west over southern Labrador Sea.
At 3:00 a.m. NST Wednesday low 975 mb located over western Funk
Island Bank.
By 3:30 p.m. NST Wednesday low 972 mb located over southeastern
Labrador.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 3:31 PM NST 2 March 2021 A trough of low pressure over Northeastern Newfoundland will moveover the South Labrador Sea Wednesday afternoon. Gale force
southeasterly winds ahead of the trough will shift to generally
strong to gale force southwesterlies behind it.
A deep low pressure system near Anticosti Island will pass through
the Cabot Strait tonight. The low will continue northeastward and
move to lie over Western Funk Island Bank Wednesday afternoon where
it will dissipate. Strong to gale force west to southwesterly winds
are expected south of the low.
Meanwhile, a second low pressure system will develop tonight over
Western Funk Island Bank. This low will track northwestwards to lie
over Southeastern Labrador Wednesday afternoon. This low will cause
the strong to gale force west to southwesterly winds to persist over
the marine district Wednesday afternoon and evening.
Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for all
waters.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for all waters except the Grand Banks.
