Technical Marine Synopsis

Issued 8:00 PM NST 19 January 2025 Tonight and Monday At 8:00 p.m. NST tonight trough located over the Gulf of
St. Lawrence.
By 10:00 a.m. NST Monday quasi-stationary trough located west
of Newfoundland.

At 8:00 p.m. NST tonight deepening low 1000 mb located south of
Cape Cod.
By 8:00 p.m. NST Monday low 973 mb located northwest of Belle
Isle Bank.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 7:53 PM NST 19 January 2025 A trough of low pressure will approach the marine district from the
west tonight. The trough will set up just west of Newfoundland by
Monday morning where it will remain nearly stationary. Strong to gale
force south to southeast winds will spread across all waters ahead of
the trough.

A deepening low pressure system south of Cape Cod will rapidly
intensify as it moves up the Eastern Seaboard tonight. The low will
move along the trough on Monday to lie northwest of Belle Isle Bank
by Monday evening. Gale force south to southeast winds will persist
over most waters ahead of this low then shift to gale to storm force
southwesterly to northwesterly in its wake.

Marine interests are advised that a storm warning is in effect for
Belle Isle Bank. Gale warnings are in effect for all remaining
waters.

Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Strait of Belle Isle, Gulf waters, Northeast Coast, and
Belle Isle Bank.
