northwest-southeast over Labrador Sea.
By 8:00 p.m. NDT Friday trough located on a line northeast-southwest
over the Northeast Coast of Newfoundland.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 7:54 PM NDT 21 May 2026 A low pressure system northeast of Belle Isle Bank will move east ofthe region tonight. Strong to gale force westerlies to
northwesterlies will persist in its wake. A period of gale to storm
force northwesterlies is expected over Belle Isle Bank tonight.
As the low slowly departs, an associated trough extending across the
Labrador Sea will swing southward across northern waters late Friday.
Persistent strong to gale force westerlies to northwesterlies ahead
of the trough will shift to northerlies behind it.
Marine interests are advised that a storm warning is in effect for
Belle Isle Bank. Gale warnings are in effect for all remaining waters
except East Coast - north of Cape St. Francis and the Grand Banks.
