By 3:00 a.m. NST Tuesday departing low 977 mb located east of Funk
Island Bank.
At 3:00 a.m. NST Tuesday approaching low 1001 mb located over
eastern Quebec.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 3:21 PM NST 19 January 2026 A deepening low pressure system over Eastern Newfoundland willcontinue tracking northeastward tonight to lie east of Funk Island
Bank overnight. Gale to storm force easterlies to northeasterlies are
forecast north of its track, while gale to storm force westerlies to
southwesterlies are expected to its south. Winds will shift to strong
to gale force westerlies to northwesterlies tonight in its wake.
A second low will approach from the west on Tuesday. Strong to gale
force southwesterlies will develop on Tuesday ahead of the low.
Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
South Coast, East Coast, Funk Island Bank, Northern Grand Banks, and
Southwestern Grand Banks. Gale warnings are in effect for all
remaining waters.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Strait of Belle Isle and Gulf waters.
