Issued 4:00 AM NST 16 January 2026 Today Tonight and Saturday At 4:00 a.m. NST today low 983 mb located over the South LabradorSea.
By 9:30 p.m. NST tonight weakening low 983 mb located over the
East Labrador Sea.
At 4:00 a.m. NST today deepening low 990 mb located south of
Nova Scotia.
By 4:00 a.m. NST Saturday deepening low 950 mb located over the
South Labrador Sea.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 3:52 AM NST 16 January 2026 A low pressure system over the South Labrador Sea is expected totrack northeastward into the East Labrador Sea later this morning and
weaken. Gale force northwesterlies will diminish this morning as it
weakens.
A second low pressure system south of Nova Scotia will rapidly deepen
as it tracks across Newfoundland today and into the Labrador Sea by
Saturday morning. Strong to gale force easterlies ahead of the low
will shift to gale to storm force northwesterlies to southwesterlies
in its wake.
Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
all waters except Lake Melville and Mid Labrador Coast, where gale
warnings are in effect.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for all open waters.
