Marine Weather Statement

Issued 3:23 PM ADT 9 April 2020 An intense low pressure system will approach the marine district from
the west today to lie west of the Bay of Fundy this evening. The low
will then track northeastward, reaching Gulf - Magdalen Friday
evening. Gale force southeasterly winds ahead of the disturbance will
begin over western marine areas this evening and will reach remaining
waters by Friday morning. Winds will increase to storm force
easterlies over some regions in the Gulf of St. Lawrence Friday
morning.

In addition, due to a series of abnormally high astronomical tides,
this system will bring higher than normal water levels and a
likelihood of coastal flooding to areas along the Bay of Fundy during
high tide late this evening. This will also occur for Miramichi
northward to the Acadian Coast and the Bay of Chaleur early Friday
morning, and near noon on Friday along the coasts of iles de la
Madeleine. There may also be some minor flooding along parts of the
Northumberland Strait coast of Prince Edward Island near noon on
Friday. Finally, there may be some coastal erosion and damage due to
rough and pounding surf along east facing shorelines in the Gulf of
St. Lawrence, especially for Northern New Brunswick and iles de la
Madeleine.

Marine interest are advised that high water level warnings are in
effect for Fundy, Grand Manan, Lurcher, southwestern shore,
Chaleur-Miscou and Gulf - Magdalen.

Marine interests are also advised that storm warnings are in effect
for Cabot Strait, Gulf-Magdalen, Chaleur-Miscou and Anticosti -
southeastern half. Gale warnings are in effect for all remaining
waters.
