northeast-southwest over the West Coast of Newfoundland.
At 8:00 p.m. NST tonight intensifying low 1003 mb located off
By 8:00 p.m. NST Saturday approaching low 969 mb located southwest
of Nova Scotia.
At 8:00 p.m. NST tonight ridge located on a line northeast-southwest
over the Grand Banks.
By 3:30 p.m. NST Saturday ridge located east of the Grand Banks.
Marine Weather StatementIssued 7:58 PM NST 28 January 2022 Strong to gale force southwesterlies over western and northern waters
this evening ahead of a trough of low pressure approaching from the
west will diminish tonight as the trough dissipates over Western
A low pressure system off Cape Hatteras this evening will rapidly
intensify overnight and Saturday as it tracks up the Eastern Seaboard
to lie southwest of Nova Scotia by Saturday evening. Gale to storm
force southeast to northeasterlies will spread across most waters
later on Saturday well ahead of this low.
Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
Gulf - Port au Port, Southwest Coast, South Coast and Southwestern
Grand Banks. Gale warnings are in effect for all remaining waters
except Funk Island Bank.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Gulf waters, Northeast Coast, and Belle Isle Bank.
