Issued 3:00 AM NDT 22 May 2026 Today Tonight and Saturday At 3:00 a.m. NDT today low 983 mb located east of Belle Isle Bank.By 3:30 p.m. NDT today departing low 983 mb located south of
Greenland.
At 3:00 a.m. NDT today trough located on a line northwest-southeast
over southern Labrador Sea.
By 3:00 a.m. NDT Saturday trough located on a line
northeast-southwest over Funk Island Bank.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 2:56 AM NDT 22 May 2026 A low pressure system east of Belle Isle Bank will depart east of theregion today. Strong to gale force westerlies to northwesterlies will
persist in its wake. A period of gale to storm force northwesterlies
over Belle Isle Bank will diminish to strong to gale force this
morning.
As the low departs, an associated trough extending across the South
Labrador Sea will swing southward across northern waters late today.
Persistent strong to gale force westerlies ahead of the trough will
shift to northerlies to northwesterlies behind it.
Marine interests are advised that a storm warning is in effect for
Belle Isle Bank. Gale warnings are in effect for all remaining waters
except East Coast - north of Cape St. Francis, Northern Grand Banks,
and Southeastern Grand Banks.
