By 3:30 p.m. NST Saturday low 950 mb located northeast of Labrador
Sea.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 3:21 PM NST 16 January 2026 A rapidly deepening low pressure system over Newfoundland will tracknortheastwards tonight to lie northeast of the Labrador Sea by
Saturday afternoon. Gale to storm force southerlies are expected east
of the low's track with strong to gale force northerlies to
northeasterlies to it's west. Winds will then shift to gale to storm
force southwesterlies to northwesterlies as the low passes.
Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
all waters except Gulf waters, Northeast Coast, and Southeastern
Grand Banks where gale warnings are in effect.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Strait of Belle Isle, Gulf waters, East Coast, Northeast
Coast, Belle Isle Bank, and Funk Island Bank.
