Coast of Newfoundland.
At 10:00 a.m. NDT today quasi-stationary ridge located on a line
north-south over the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 9:55 AM NDT 22 April 2026 A low pressure system over the Southwestern Grand Banks will tracknorthwards today just east of the Avalon Peninsula and then
northwestwards tonight to lie over the Northeast Coast on Thursday
morning where it will weaken. A period of strong to gale force
northerlies to northwesterlies are expected to the west of its track.
Over southern waters winds will diminish as the low moves away, while
over northern waters winds will diminish as the system weakens.
Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for
Strait of Belle Isle - eastern half, Northeast Coast, Belle Isle
Bank, and Southwestern Grand Banks.
