Technical Marine Synopsis

Issued 4:00 AM NST 20 January 2025 Today Tonight and Tuesday At 4:00 a.m. NST today trough located over the Northwest Labrador
Sea.
By 9:30 a.m. NST today dissipating trough located over the East
Labrador Sea.

At 4:00 a.m. NST today deepening low 994 mb located northeast of
Cape Cod.
By 4:00 a.m. NST Tuesday deepening low 961 mb located over the
South Labrador Sea.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 3:55 AM NST 20 January 2025 A rapidly deepening low pressure system northeast of Cape Cod will
track northeastward and pass just west of Newfoundland today. The low
will then continue to deepen as it moves northward across the
Labrador Sea tonight and Tuesday as a very powerful winter storm.
Gale to storm force southeasterlies are expected north and east of
the low while gale to storm force northerlies to westerlies are
expected to its west and south.

Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
South Labrador Coast, Mid Labrador Coast - Hopedale and south, and
the Labrador Sea. Gale warnings are in effect for Mid Labrador Coast
north of Hopedale and North Labrador Coast.

Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for all areas with open water.
