By 9:30 a.m. NST today departing trough from 975 mb low located
southeast of the Marine District.
At 4:00 a.m. NST today low 975 mb located south of Greenland.
By 4:00 a.m. NST Friday low 979 mb located over the East Labrador
Sea.
At 4:00 a.m. NST today ridge located over western Labrador.
By 4:00 a.m. NST Friday ridge located from Labrador to Belle
Isle Bank.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 3:50 AM NST 22 January 2026 A low pressure system south of Greenland will remain nearlystationary today before it begins to track westward to lie over the
East Labrador Sea by early Friday morning. Meanwhile, a ridge of high
pressure over Western Labrador will track eastward. Strong to gale
force northwesterlies are expected across most waters today between
these two features. Winds will diminish over southern waters by
tonight but are expected to persist through Friday over northern
waters as a result of the low.
Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for all
waters.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for all regions with open water except East Labrador Sea.
