At 9:30 p.m. NST tonight deepening low 997 mb located southeast
of Cape Cod.
By 9:30 p.m. NST Friday deepening low 964 mb located over Belle
Isle Bank.
At 9:30 p.m. NST tonight deepening low 991 mb located north of
the North Labrador Coast.
By 4:00 p.m. NST Friday departing low 983 mb located over Ungava
Bay.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 9:19 PM NST 15 January 2026 A low pressure system over the Gulf of St. Lawrence is expected totrack northeastward into the East Labrador Sea by Friday morning.
Strong to gale force northwesterlies will develop over southern
waters tonight behind the low. Winds will quickly diminish to strong
Friday morning.
A second low pressure system will form southeast of Cape Cod tonight
and rapidly deepen as it crosses Newfoundland on Friday. A second
period of gale force northwesterlies will develop over southern
waters with this low Friday evening.
Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for
South Labrador Coast and Mid Labrador Coast - Hopedale and south.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for all open waters except Northwest Labrador Sea - southern
half and East Labrador Sea.
