Issued 04:09 AM AST 16 January 2021 Higher than normal water levels are expected or occurring.High water levels and large waves are forecast for Sunday.
Maximum wave heights: 4 to 6 metres.
Locations: shorelines especially those facing east.
High tide: near high tide near noon Sunday..
Remarks: Strong easterly winds, large waves and high water levels may cause damage to coastal infrastructure and coastal erosion, especially to east facing coastlines of Iles-de-la-Madeleine.
Coastal flooding is possible, especially during high tide. Coastal erosion is possible in vulnerable areas.
High water level warnings are issued when water levels pose a threat to coastal regions.

Issued 3:00 AM AST 16 January 2021 Today Tonight and Sunday At 3:00 a.m. AST today departing low 970 mb located over thesoutheastern Grand Banks.
At 3:00 a.m. AST today intensifying low 1000 mb located over the
East Coast of the U.S.
By 3:00 a.m. AST Sunday low 984 mb located over Maine.
At 3:00 a.m. AST today ridge located from Anticosti Island to West
Scotian Slope.
By 3:00 a.m. AST Sunday departing ridge located from Newfoundland
to the Grand Banks.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 2:49 AM AST 16 January 2021 An intense low pressure system over the Southeastern Grand Banks willmove slowly eastward away from the district today. Strong to gale
force northwesterlies over eastern waters will diminish today.
A developing low pressure system over the Eastern Seaboard will track
northward today to lie over Maine tonight. A trough ahead of the low
will move into southwestern waters tonight and then move across the
remainder of the district on Sunday. Gale to storm force
southeasterly winds will spread across the marine district ahead of
the trough.
Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
Lurcher, Browns Bank, Georges Bank, West Scotian Slope, eastern
shore, Sable, East Scotian Slope, Fourchu, Banquereau - western half,
Cabot Strait, Northumberland Strait - eastern half and Gulf-Magdalen
- eastern half. Gale warnings are in effect for all remaining waters.
Marine interests are also advised that a high water level warning is
in effect for Gulf-Magdalen for Sunday near high tide near noon.
In addition, higher than normal water levels are expected for
Chaleur-Miscou for early evening on Sunday.
