of the Grand Banks.
By 10:00 a.m. NST Monday departing low 958 mb located east of the
Marine Weather StatementIssued 7:58 PM NST 24 January 2021 A low pressure system over Belle Isle Bank will move westwards to lie
over the Great Northern Peninsula tonight. The low will then track
southwestward and weaken on Monday. Gale force northerlies to
northeasterlies can be expected ahead of the low with strong to gale
force westerlies to southwesterlies to its south. Winds will diminish
over most waters overnight into Monday as the low weakens.
A rapidly intensifying second low pressure system southeast of the
Grand Banks will turn northward to lie east of the Grand Banks on
Monday. Strong to gale force northeasterlies over far southeastern
waters will diminish overnight tonight in the wake of the low.
Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for
Strait of Belle Isle, Gulf waters, Belle Isle Bank, Funk Island Bank,
and Southeastern Grand Banks - southeastern half.
