Marine Weather StatementIssued 2:55 AM NST 23 January 2022 An intense low pressure system south of Laurentian Fan will cross the
Grand Banks today before departing to the northeast of the marine
district tonight. Gale to storm force easterly to southerly winds
will spread across southeastern waters today ahead of the low.
Winds will shift to strong to gale force northwesterlies this evening
before diminishing overnight in its wake.
A second low will approach from the southwest on Monday. Strong to
gale force southeasterlies will develop over southern waters on
Monday ahead of the low.
Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
the Grand Banks. Gale warnings are in effect for South Coast, East
Coast - Cape St. Francis and south, and Funk Island Bank.
Marine interests are also advised that a freezing spray warning is in
effect for Belle Isle Bank.
