At 10:00 a.m. NST today intensifying low 1015 mb located south of
Nova Scotia.
By 10:00 a.m. NST Thursday low 984 mb located southeast of the
Grand Banks.
At 10:00 a.m. NST today ridge located over the Maritimes.
By 10:00 a.m. NST Thursday ridge located over Newfoundland.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 9:38 AM NST 1 February 2023 A low pressure system east of the funk island will depart the regiontoday. Strong to gale force northwesterlies to its west will diminish
by this afternoon. A second low pressure system will intensify today
south of Nova Scotia and move eastwards to lie just southeast of the
Grand Banks by Thursday morning. Strong to gale force northeasterlies
will develop to the north of the low before shifting to moderate to
strong north to northwesterlies in its wake.
Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for
East Coast-north of Cape St. Francis, Funk Island Bank, Northern
Grand Banks and Southeastern Grand Banks.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for all waters except Strait of Belle Isle, East Coast-Cape
St. Francis and south, Northeast Gulf and the Southern Grand Banks.
