Issued 3:00 AM NST 2 March 2021 Today Tonight and Wednesday At 3:00 a.m. NST today intensifying low 973 mb located north ofPrince Edward Island.
By 3:00 a.m. NST Wednesday low 965 mb located over the Southwest
Coast of Newfoundland.
At 3:00 a.m. NST today trough located on a line northwest-southeast
over Cape Breton Island.
By 3:00 p.m. NST Wednesday trough located on a line east-west over
Belle Isle Bank.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 3:07 AM NST 2 March 2021 A trough of low pressure over the Maritimes will cross Newfoundlandtoday to lie over Belle Isle Bank tonight. Gale to storm force
southeasterly winds ahead of the trough shift to generally strong to
gale force southwesterly behind it.
A deep low pressure just north of Prince Edward Island will continue
to intensify as it passes through the Cabot Strait this evening.
The storm will continue eastward to cross Southern Newfoundland
overnight and the Avalon Peninsula Wednesday morning. Gale force
westerly winds are expected south of the low.
Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
Southwest Coast, South Coast, East Coast - Cape St. Francis and
south, and the Southern Grand Banks. Gale warnings are in effect for
all remaining waters.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Strait of Belle Isle, Gulf waters, Southwest Coast, South
Coast, East Coast, Northeast Coast, Belle Isle Bank and Funk Island
Bank.
