Issued 4:00 PM NST 3 February 2023 Tonight and Saturday At 4:00 p.m. NST today trough located over Labrador Sea.By 9:30 p.m. NST tonight weakening trough located over Labrador Sea.
At 4:00 p.m. NST today intensifying low 980 mb located over the
Quebec Lower North Shore.
By 9:30 a.m. NST Saturday low 956 mb located north of Groswater Bay.
At 9:30 a.m. NST Saturday approaching low 952 mb located over
Labrador Sea.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 3:52 PM NST 3 February 2023 An elongated trough of low pressure stretching from Labrador to southof Newfoundland will move to lie over the Labrador Sea on Saturday
where it will intensify into a deep low pressure system. The low will
then drift southward Saturday night.
Strong to gale force east to northerlies ahead of the trough will
strengthen storm to hurricane force winds tonight into Saturday.
To the south of the low gale to storm force southwesterlies are
expected. Gale to storm force northwesterlies will develop late in
the day on Saturday in the wake of the low.
Marine interests are advised that hurricane force wind warnings are
in effect for Mid Labrador Coast, South Labrador Sea - northern half
and East Labrador Sea. Storm warnings are in effect for all remaining
waters except Northwest Labrador Sea - northwestern half where a gale
warning is in effect.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for the Labrador Sea.
