Blizzard warning in effect

Lake Winnipegosis

Issued 3:19 PM CST 17 January 2026 Blizzard conditions with gusty winds and visibility frequently near zero in snow and blowing snow are expected.

Hazard: Widespread near zero visibilities in snow and blowing snow with winds gusting to 80 km/h.

Location: Lake Manitoba, Lake Winnipegosis and Lake Winnipeg.

Timing: Beginning early Sunday morning and ending Sunday evening.

Remarks: Another clipper system passing through the province will bring several centimetres of fresh snow to the region tonight. Strong northwesterly winds gusting 80 km/h will develop early Sunday morning along with whiteout blizzard conditions and falling temperatures for the day. Winds will ease in the evening.

Travel will be dangerous and likely impossible due to near-zero visibility. Avoid travel and outdoor activities, if possible. Blizzard warnings are issued when near-zero visibility in blowing snow is expected.
