Technical Marine Synopsis

Issued 4:00 PM NST 21 January 2021 Tonight and Friday At 4:00 p.m. NST today trough located over the Torngat Mountains.
By 4:00 a.m. NST Friday dissipating trough located over the
Torngat Mountains.

At 4:00 a.m. NST Friday trough located southeast of Labrador Sea.
By 9:30 p.m. NST Friday trough located on a line northwest-southeast
over Labrador Coast.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 3:51 PM NST 21 January 2021 A weakening trough of low pressure over the Torngat Mountains will
dissipate tonight. Strong to gale force southeasterlies in the wake
of this trough will diminish to moderate to strong overnight.

Meanwhile, a second trough will approach the district from the
southeast on Friday to lie off the Labrador coast Friday afternoon.
Winds will shift to moderate to strong northerlies ahead of this
trough and reintensify into strong to gale force easterlies in its
wake.

Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for the
Labrador Sea.

Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for South Labrador Coast and Mid Labrador Coast.
