Wind north 35 knots except south 45 to 55 over southern sections. Wind becoming northwest 45 to 55 this morning then diminishing to northwest 35 early this evening. Wind diminishing to northwest 25 near midnight then backing to west 20 Saturday morning. Wind backing to southwest 25 Saturday afternoon.

Snow changing to flurries this afternoon and ending near midnight. Visibility 1 mile or less in precipitation.

Freezing spray warning in effect.

Over open water moderate freezing spray over northern sections early this morning. Severe freezing spray today and this evening. Moderate freezing spray overnight and Saturday.

Temperatures minus 8 to zero falling to minus 22 to minus 14 overnight.

Issued 4:00 AM NST 27 January 2023 Today Tonight and Saturday At 4:00 a.m. NST today low 975 mb located near Lake Melville.
By 4:00 a.m. NST Saturday low 970 mb located east of the East
Labrador Sea.

By 4:00 a.m. NST Saturday building ridge located over Labrador.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 3:40 AM NST 27 January 2023 An intense low pressure system over Lake Melville will cross the
Labrador Sea today. Gale to storm force southeasterly to
northeasterly winds ahead of the low will shift to gale to storm
force west to northwesterlies in its wake. Winds will ease tonight
and Saturday as a ridge of high pressure builds in from the west.

Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
all waters except Lake Melville where a gale warning is in effect.

Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for all regions with open water.
