Issued 4:00 PM NST 12 January 2026 Tonight and Tuesday At 4:00 p.m. NST today low 988 mb located over the East LabradorSea.
By 4:00 a.m. NST Tuesday dissipating trough located over central
Labrador Sea.
At 4:00 p.m. NST today deepening low 954 mb located over western
Newfoundland.
By 4:00 p.m. NST Tuesday low 961 mb located south of Greenland.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 3:51 PM NST 12 January 2026 A low pressure system over the East Labrador Sea will become a troughthis evening then dissipate over the Central Labrador Sea tonight.
Strong to gale force northwesterlies can be expected today west of
the low.
Meanwhile, a second low pressure system over Western Newfoundland
will track northeastward to lie east of Belle Isle Bank tonight
before moving south of Greenland on Tuesday. A trough extending from
the low will retrograde westward across the Labrador Sea on Tuesday.
Strong to gale force northerlies to northeasterlies will develop over
southern waters later today ahead of the low before increasing to
gale to storm force northeasterlies to northwesterlies tonight as the
low passes to the southeast and the associated trough moves across
the district.
Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
South Labrador Coast and South Labrador Sea - southern half.
Gale warnings are in effect for all remaining waters except Lake
Melville and North Labrador Coast.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for all regions with open water.
