Technical Marine Synopsis

Issued 9:30 PM PST 28 January 2020 Tonight and Wednesday At 9:30 p.m. PST tonight frontal system located east of Bowie.
By 4:00 a.m. PST Wednesday weakening frontal system located on a
line north-south over Cape Scott.

At 4:00 p.m. PST Wednesday frontal system located west of the
offshore waters.
By 4:00 a.m. PST Thursday intensifying frontal system located over
Haida Gwaii extending southwestward.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 9:24 PM PST 28 January 2020 An intense frontal system will quickly move through the offshore
waters tonight then move through the Central Coast and southern
waters Wednesday morning. Gale to storm force southeasterlies over
the northern and central waters will continue tonight, and a brief
period of hurricane force southeasterlies will develop from Dixon
Entrance East to the waters near the headlands of Vancouver Island.
Gale force southeasterlies over the South Coast are expected
overnight and tomorrow morning as the front moves across the area. In
the wake of the system, winds will veer to gale to storm force
southwesterlies over northern and central waters while the southern
waters will experience far weaker winds ranging from moderate to

Another system will approach the offshore waters late Wednesday
bringing gale to storm force southerlies across the northern waters
Wednesday night into Thursday. As the front nears, there is a
potential for hurricane force southerlies to develop over the Central
Coast Thursday morning.
