Technical Marine Synopsis

Issued 9:30 PM PDT 18 May 2025 Tonight and Monday At 9:30 p.m. PDT tonight frontal system located over Haida Gwaii.
By 4:00 a.m. PDT Monday departing frontal system located from
Hecate Strait to the Central Coast.

At 11:00 p.m. PDT tonight deepening low 998 mb located over Bowie.
By 2:00 p.m. PDT Monday weakening low 1001 mb located over Haida
Gwaii.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 9:18 PM PDT 18 May 2025 A frontal system continues to move over the northern, and central
waters, and will spread gale force southerly or southeasterly winds
this evening until Monday morning.

Further south, a brief period of storm force winds can occur along
West Vancouver Island North near midnight tonight. Gale force
southeasterlies will also develop along Northern Strait of Georgia,
Johnstone Strait, and Queen Charlotte Strait late this evening and
after midnight.

A centre of low pressure associated with the frontal system will move
eastward over Bowie this evening. Westerly gales behind this low will
develop over Explorer tonight before easing to strong Monday morning.
