Issued 4:00 AM PST 2 February 2023 Today Tonight and Friday At 4:00 a.m. PST today frontal system located on a line north-southover Haida Gwaii.
By 10:00 a.m. PST Friday dissipating frontal system located on a
line northwest-southeast over Cape Scott.
At 7:00 a.m. PST Friday low 987 mb located south of Explorer.
By 2:00 p.m. PST Friday departing low 989 mb located near Tofino.
At 11:00 p.m. PST Friday approaching frontal system located off
Explorer.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 3:54 AM PST 2 February 2023 A frontal system over the northern waters is producing southeasterlystorm force winds from Dixon Entrance - east to the headlands of
Vancouver Island and southeasterly gale force winds off the west
coast of Vancouver Island.
Winds will ease southerly moderate across northern waters this
evening. However, winds will remain southerly gale force across the
central waters and along the west coast of Vancouver Island tonight.
Winds over the west coast of Vancouver Island will increase to storm
force southeasterlies Friday morning as another frontal system
approaches. Winds will also increase to southeasterly gale force
across the inner northern waters Friday morning and across inner
South Coast waters Friday afternoon.
Winds will ease to strong south or southeast across northern, central
and south waters Friday evening. There will be a brief period of
southwest gales across west coast Vancouver Island - south and the
mouth of Juan de Fuca Strait Friday evening in the wake of the
frontal system.
