Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain. Hazards: Up to toonie sized hail. Wind gusts of 90 km/h. Locally heavy rain. Timing: This afternoon. Additional Remarks: Thunderstorms are developing this afternoon along a trough of low pressure across central Saskatchewan and central Manitoba. These thunderstorms will move southeastward through the day. When thunder roars, go indoors! Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Heavy rain can cause flash flooding and significant reductions to visibility. Strong wind gusts can damage trees, buildings and overturn vehicles. Large hail can cause significant damage and injury. Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms capable of producing damaging hail, wind or rain.
