Special weather statement in effect for:
Strong and gusty winds tonight.
Strong and gusty west to southwest winds will develop this evening in the wake of a sharp cold front racing through Eastern Ontario.
Winds will gust frequently to 60 or 70 km/h. A few higher gusts of 75 to 80 km/h are possible especially in exposed areas such as near Eastern Lake Ontario, and the St. Lawrence and Ottawa Rivers.
The winds will gradually weaken overnight.
Loose objects may be tossed by the winds and can cause injury or damage. Gusty winds in exposed areas can also damage soft shelters, tents, and awnings.
Some minor tree damage is also possible as many trees are in partial to full leaf.
Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ONstorm@canada.ca or tweet reports using #ONStorm.
