Snowfall warning in effect for:
Snowfall with total amounts of 10 to 15 cm is expected.
A low pressure system tracking out of the northern Prairie provinces has spread wet snow mixed at times with rain into Whale Cove, Rankin Inlet, and Chesterfield Inlet today. The precipitation will likely be heavier tonight, with up to 5 cm of wet snow accumulations possible, however amounts will be limited by melting and compaction.
The snow also moved into Naujaat today, and it will become slowly heavier through tonight and Saturday. The snow will continue Saturday night, but may start to mix with rain overnight or on Sunday after which time further accumulations will be limited. Total snowfall accumulations at Naujaat this weekend will likely end up in the 20 to 30 cm range. In addition to the snow, strong southeast winds will gust to 60 or 70 km/h, creating blowing snow at times.
Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations.
